Christians Against Poverty

Debt advice

Christians Against Poverty is a charity started in 1996 by John Kirkby. Partnering with churches, it now has over 250 centres across the UK offering free professional debt advice. From it’s head office in Bradford, CAP currently handles over £73 million worth of debt and works with 11,000 families every year helping them become debt free. 96% of clients who worked with CAP to become debt free managed to stay debt free. Through home visits, effective budgeting the CAP account or insolvency routes, CAP supports clients until they are debt free. CAP seeks to educate as well introducing the Money Course in 2008 and more recently CAP Kids and CAP Youth. They launched CAP Job Clubs in 2013 and are piloting CAP Release to help those with addictions.
